• The new A9 loudspeakers from Spendor has arrived! These speakers are the first Spendor have actually designed based around DS products and to specifically handle the extra bandwidth that 24 bit music offers. The A9 costs £3999 and they actually sound like they costs that. We are running them in right now on a Rega Osiris amplifier and a DS source.

• Pioneer are now totally out of stock of plasma and lcd TV. We have a 60" remaining on demo. It is the sad end of an era in our opinion.

• News is reaching us of some new products from Cyrus. A revised Transport and DAC-XP supplied with two PSX-R's will make this Cyrus first truly high end CD player. More to follow.
• Rega are bringing the Osiris integrated amplifier in for us to listen to in the next couple of weeks. We are quite excited because we have fallen in love with the Isis (matching CD player.
• The Musical Fidelity M6i Integrated amp is our latest arrival. This amp is derived from some of the high-end kit that MF have been producing recently. The unit will retail for £2,500 and be joined by a CD player shortly.  

• David and his wife Natalie are proud to announce the arrival of their new baby Ben who arrived yesterday at 1.50 and weighs in at 7.15lbs. Congratulations are in order and glasses will be raised!
• The Ayre MX-R Mono block amplifiers have arrived and are now available for demo. They are staggering.

• The Rega Isis has arrived! Already it sounds so worryingly good. Currently the best CD player in the shop and one of the best we've heard; EVER!.
• Naim are busy bunnies this year! Just announced is their first DAC digital to analogue convertor. The units is the World's first upgradable DAC because not only can it be used as a stand alone DAC but can be enhanced considerably by the use of a XPS or 555PS power supplies.
  "The DAC has 10 digital inputs and these are 4 coaxial, 4 SPDIF and 2 USB. It can also accept digital inputs from latest generation Apple products and Squeezebox. It is also the first unit anywhere to conain an Apple Authentication chip that enables it to take a digital output from i-Pod or i-Phone". We can verify that this is indeed the case and we are extremely excited about it. The unit will retail for £1950.
• The Birthday celebration that Cyrus are just finishing has meant that we have taken a huge amount of stock from them that consists of integrated amps (3, 3i, 5, 7, 8, 8vs, 8vs) and preamps at wonderful prices. It might take us a while to list them all so ring if you want a used bargain with a Cyrus warranty.
• The Spendor ST floorstanding reference loudspeaker has arrived and we are running them in as we speak. Beautiful looking speakers and sounding better by the day.
• Sonos have announced a substancial upgrade to the handset that controls their network music system. You might wonder at all the fuss but in fact the handset is in effect the controller for your entire music library and the new one is FAR superior in every aspect. The Sonos system is now the easiest to set up and use network music system on the market. Come in and have a look and listen.

• The Sennheiser HD-800, one of the finest dynamic headphones on the market; is now on demo at Moorgate. If you need to use headphones then these are truly remarkable.
• Wharfedale have employed the services of Peter Comeau as Director of Acoustic Design. This is great news indeed for the company as Comeau has designed some of the finest loudspeakers in the history of; well loudspeakers.

  

• Paul Darwin of Rega spent yesterday afternoon demonstrating the new Rega Isis CD player to us. In fact his job couldn't have been easier because the player is quite remarkable and convinced us of its merits in short time. The fact that Rega have a reputation for high performance well-priced players makes this product something of a surprise. Especially in light of the fact its one of the best CD players we've ever heard. The Isis will be on demo at Moorgate within the next month.

• We'd be the first to admit that our selection of Home Cinema equipment hasn't been particularly inspiring. Recent developments have meant we have now added AV receivers from Denon, Onkyo and Pioneer to the mix (joining Arcam) as well as Blu-Ray players from £249. Come in for a demo.

• Musical Fidelity will add a high quality class A integrated amp to their range shortly. This unit is derived from the Primo. More to follow.

• Naim Audio upgrade Slimline series to feature XS technology lifted from the XS and Supernait. New products are Nait XS (which you already know about) CD5XS, NAC152XS, NAP155XS, FlatCap XS and NAT05XS. They are all available now on demo at Moorgate. The new range has lots of internal changes to reflect the evolution. Also improved is the case and fascia work - this looks higher quality and much more like Naims classic series. We have the CD and pre/power currently running in our demo room and I have to say they sound wonderful.
• Michael Jackson polarised people perhaps more than any other artist. His body of work is remarkable however and he remains one of the best selling performers of all time. From happy child joyously singing with the Jackson 5 to a scarecrow-like song and dance man with awkwardness and cool in equal measure he has left a legacy of fine music and performances. We salute him and we feel there will probably never be another like him.
• Naim Audio are upgrading the CDX2 to offer better performance and improved flexibility but are leaving the price the same. The new CDX2 will be available at the end of the month and features, new 4 layer motherboard, improved tray board and switchable digital output. Substantial performance enhancements are expected.

• www.hdtracks.com has some remarkable 24bit Master downloads available including Robert Plant and Allison Kraus' "Raising Sand". The album can be downloaded in 24bit for $15. A tip though - don't try and use a credit card as it will not except overseas cards. However it lets you purchase using paypal for some reason.
• Naim Audio release the Ovator S-600 floor standing loudspeaker in the next few months. With an expected RRP of about £6,000 the design looks ellegant. We should get a chance to hear these in the next six weeks and will of course report back when we have done so.
• Sony have anounced their first loss in 14 years. Sony claim the loss is due to the consumer slowdown and strong Yen relative to the UK and US.
• Pioneer add affordable Blu-Ray player to their range next month. Starting at £279! Great value for money and performance. They are also working on a new range of AV receivers with some extremely clever digital technology that should benefit both music and movie lovers and in particular anyone who uses an ipod or iphone.  It involves a quartz locking system for HDMI audio that makes a noticable difference to sound quality by reducing jitter. New amps will also have i-pod connectivity that takes a digital feed from the ipod and this in itself will offer far better performance.
