From the M-1

By Car - Take junction 33 Off the M-1 and follow the signs for Sheffield city centre. Follow the Sheffield Parkway until you reach the centre (big roundabout with lights and the Super tram overhead). Head for the Railway Station, passing it on your left. The road then veers to the left and you will see the Brightside Funeral Parlor on your left - keep to the right. As you approach the staggered roundabout follow the road round to the right heading for the Ring Road . Now get in the left lane and head straight on, passing a pub and a hire centre.

Keep straight on until the road widens to become dual carriageway. Go across one roundabout, through the lights and turn right at the next roundabout (3rd exit). 100 yards on you will see Wickes on the right and Stokes Tiles on the left, turn left at the lights onto Fitzwilliam Street. We are 25 yards along on the left side. There's parking on the street and a massive pay and display at the top of the road. We are 15-20 minutes from the M1 in normal traffic.

By Rail - From Sheffield Station, you can get a cab (we are about a mile away) or take a walk up past the now defunct Museum of Modern Music towards The Moor. At the bottom of The Moor (Moor Foot), turn right and cross the dual carriageway. You will see Stokes Tiles in front of you. You are at the foot of Fitzwilliam Street. Walk up the road 25 yards and you will see us on the left.

Whilst you are in the area.

If you are in the area why not stay a day or two and enjoy Sheffield's wonderful surroundings. We'll be happy to advise you on things to see and do and also some great inexpensive hotels.

Above - The Sheffield Wheel on Fargate.

If you are making a journey, why not make a day of it? We are about 5 miles from Meadowhall, Europe's' largest indoor shopping centre and my personal vision of hell.

The Sheffield City Hall

Music fans could time there visit to coincide with their favorite band playing at one of Sheffield's many venues. The Hallam FM Arena caters for larger bands whilst the City Hall, The Plug and the Leadmill host more specialist musical tastes. In the summer, the Don Valley Stadium is also on the menu (hosting gigs by The Stones and Bon Jovi to name but 2). On a more intimate scale try The Boardwalk or The Corporation, host to local musicians, tribute bands and lot's more, with some of music's biggest names often dropping in for impromptu performances. Imagine the thrill of Robert Plant or The Pretenders in a venue the size of a pub!

At the Ringinglow End of Mayfield Valley - a walk that brings you all the way into the City Centre.

Sheffield is also a great place to base a visit into Derbyshire. It is one of the greenest Cities in the UK (just check on Google Earth) and you are never far from open countryside.

You can easily drive to Chatsworth House, Bakewell (home of the famous Tart?) and Castleton (home of Blue John). The Peak district is ten minutes away - fabulous for walking, hiking or mountain biking and looking at some of the finest scenery in England and all from a series of paths that lead out of the City.

Eating Out.

If you like eating out, you are in for a treat, Sheffield has a wide variety of restaurants. These are a few of the best:

  • Aaghrah in Leopold Square
  • Nawaab on West Street
  • East 1 Noodle Bar at West One at the top of Fitzwilliam Street
  • Antibo Contempary Italian in West One.
  • The Walbut Club in Hathersage

  • The Noodle Bar on London Road
  • La Scala on Abbeydale Road at Millhouses
  • Cassanova's at Crookes
  • Cafe Guru on Westfield Terrace
  • The Mohul at Totley

There are also hundreds of fantastic bars and some great clubs (if you go in for that sort of thing). If you do find yourself with time and reason to be in Sheffield we can guide you to some nice, inexpensive hotels and would be happy to suggest an agenda of things for you to do and places to visit and to eat.
